This is a dance that I was prepared to love. Creative social dance is dear to my heart, but something here wasn’t connecting for me. I don’t have the specificity necessary to identify what it was, and in a case like this, I always have to assume it was something I missed. Dance is in the air for the briefest moment, then gone. The best I can do is afford myself another moment and see this group when they perform again. There isn’t a lot of competition in this category and Zouk Phoenix is poised to carve out its own space. I’m just going to have to wait until next time to really see it.
